First Climate Victims Day takes place at flood sites

The very first EU Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis was celebrated on 15 July. On this occasion, the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, visited several sites affected by the 2021 flooding in Benelux and Germany. He attended an exhibition on the catastrophic floods in Chaudfontaine, Belgium, and visited a reconstruction site nearby in Vesdre Valley. In Valkenburg, the Netherlands, Timmermans met with young people to discuss how we can protect ourselves better against climate change in the future.
