“People can’t see and touch the data exchanged when they use emails, WhatsApp, photos and other forms of data, so they falsely believe going digital has a positive impact on the environment. They’re not aware of the emissions. But just because they’re not right in front of our eyes doesn’t mean they don’t exist. We need to create awareness of how things really work and the footprint they have. For example, we might think that each new device is better than the one before. But is that in terms of energy efficiency too? If not, then it’s better to go second-hand".
