Spring begins with climate walks and talks!

These are stories of local climate activities from three different corners of Europe, each touched by climate change: Spain, Greece, and Italy.

•  Spanish Ambassador Jesus Iglesias Saugar led a climate walk in Aranda de Duero, in Burgos, Castilla y Leon. "We talked about regenerative agriculture and viticulture, urban rewilding (creating biodiverse and interconnected green areas), social movements, economic localisation, nature-based solutions and other levers for climate action and justice, always from a rural repopulation perspective,” he explained. When asked what they took away from the walk, the participants cited the need to empower people around them to act locally and understand the importance of individual and collective climate action.

•  Meanwhile in Greece, Ambassador Isidoros Kampolis took a group of people to the Western Parnes mountain to look at the devastation caused by fires last summer (first photo). And in Athens, Ambassador Ifigeneia Souflia led her second climate walk at Lycabettus Hill with a group of people of all ages, including children.

•  In Italy, Ambassador Andrea Castellan gathered an audience of 65 people at the church of Alpignano where he discussed food waste and social and environmental responsibility. At a fair in Sangano, he also spoke to children aged 8-12 years old about climate change and how they can help solve it. Then he raised awareness about CO2 emissions, water consumption, and new jobs related to the green transition in classrooms at Fondazione Arti e Mestieri in Turin (second photo).
