Daniela Carrington, Bulgaria

date:  30/11/2021

Daniela Carrington is a climate change policy advisor at the United Nations Development Programme, with extensive experience on international climate change negotiations. She has attended the last 23 COPs, and at COP26, she organised online training sessions for countries from Central Asia looking to enhance their actions under the Paris Agreement. As a Climate Pact Ambassador, Daniela would like to convince public authorities, schools, organisations and businesses to commit to ambitious climate action and pledges.

“The negotiations at COP are intense, sometimes you are so exhausted as you very often work through the night, but the adrenalin keeps you going and, in the end, if the decisions show we are making progress, there is a pure joy and satisfaction.

Although the Glasgow Pact didn’t deliver everything we had hoped for, it did shift the world in the right direction. All countries now accept the science on climate change and the urgent need to achieve global “net-zero” carbon emissions. We need financial resources and technologies to help us face the threat, but above all people have to demand more action from their politicians, and at the same time they can do a lot themselves to reduce emissions in their daily lives.”
