The European Commission has released the first progress report on the EU’s strategic approach to the Black Sea region, outlining developments since May 2025 across security, connectivity and environmental resilience. The report highlights the continued impact of Russia’s attacks on ports and critical infrastructure, but also strengthened cooperation with partner countries, progress on Ukraine and Moldova’s EU paths, and advances in regional connectivity. It presents flagship initiatives such as the emerging Black Sea Maritime Security Hub, expanded support for demining and critical infrastructure protection, and coordinated action on cyber resilience and hybrid threats. The Strategy aims to deliver a "more secure, interconnected, prosperous and resilient region."
