CINEA studies supporting sustainable and competitive EU aquaculture

CINEA has published three new studies providing scientific input for future EU guidance on sustainable and competitive aquaculture

Date:  13/10/2026

CINEA has published three new studies providing scientific input for future EU guidance on sustainable and competitive aquaculture, covering ecosystem services, climate pathways and feed innovation. The work reviews how bivalve and finfish farming in ponds and wetlands can deliver key ecosystem benefits, assesses greenhouse-gas reduction options and net-zero pathways for major production systems, and analyzes the role of aquafeeds in building a resilient, transparent and sustainable sector. Together, these studies strengthen the knowledge base needed to unlock aquaculture’s potential in line with the European Green Deal.
