First-ever EU strategies for islands and coastal communities

The European Commission has introduced the first EU strategies dedicated to islands and coastal communities, aiming to strengthen their resilience, competitiveness and quality of life. The coastal strategy focuses on three priorities: prosperity, by supporting a dynamic and diversified blue economy and new business models; resilience, by improving adaptation to climate change and wider challenges; and liveability, by enhancing access to services and supporting sustainable local development, actions supporting the CMA goals and contributing to sustainable growth, innovation and environmental protection in coastal areas.
