EU Regions Hackathon #ideas4EU | Showcase your project or application!

In 2019, the European Week of Regions and Cities asks what can the EU do for its citizens? What can the EU do for us, our family and friends, our cities, regions and countries?
The Hackathon #ideas4EU challenges projects around Europe to "get closer to citizens" by building new, original mobile or web applications, visualisations or demonstrations of applying data science by linking datasets for generating new insights and engagement. The result should address a concerte need or problem of free choice and present its relevance in context.
- Condition: to combine at least one domain from the REGIO website (e.g. events, projects, funding) with at least one dataset from the ESIF Open Data Portal, European Data Portal, EU Open Data Portal, Eurostat website, Europa portal, Copernicus website, Galileo website, Interoperability solutions website, any other dataset (open or not) or the CEF Building Blocks.
- Goal: to create a new insight, business model or business concept through open data in order to engage with EU citizens.

The winning team will be awarded two tickets to the Web Summit in Lisbon in November 2019. The winners will have the unique opportunity to present their solution to the 70 000 Web Summit participants, who range from fast growing start-ups to established entrepreneurs and private investors at the top of the global tech industry.
The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions display their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of action at the local and regional level. It welcomes over 6 000 visitors for workshops and debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
Projects all over Europe use the CEF Building Blocks building Smart Regions, making neighbourhoods safer, fighting terrorism and transforming logistics.
