Curating matters of care in the Arctic: What does knowledge co-creation look like for policymaking?

On May 26, the CC-DEMOS organised a workshop in Ispra, in our Collaborative Space, in partnership with the H2020 Arctic Passion consortium, titled 'Curating matters of care in the Arctic: What does knowledge co-creation look like for policymaking?'

date:  18/07/2023

The workshop, attended by around 30 participants, was focused on developing strategies to curate relevant (including often silenced and neglected) knowledge to address current dilemmas (or multi-lemmas) in framing and addressing Arctic territorial changes. Due to global climate changes, raise of business and geo-political interests in the region, new policy solutions to protect local systems of knowledge and environment are urgently needed. Hence, the workshop explored the needs of different communities to advance ideas of co-creation when it comes to addressing challenges related to working across different knowledge production systems. The workshop preparation was in itself an enterprise, as the CC-DEMOS's aim was also to experiment with a deep involvement of arts, and in particular the arts of Saami or arts related to the Arctic, as means to critically look into the longstanding barriers of respectful collaboration. The report of this workshop will be published in September. Watch this space!
