The final policy event of BiodiverCities took place on September 8, hosted by the European Committee of the Regions, Brussels. The draft report of the event is available at the following link. The final policy event was an opportunity to discuss policy needs and other enabling conditions to ensure that citizens are engaged in the co-creation of urban green infrastructure and by extension to other fields of land use planning.

Local politicians and representatives of local public institutions (e.g., planners, policy officers) from the 10 cities involved in the project, practitioners and citizen engagement experts, policymakers from EU Institutions (particularly EC services i.e., ENV, CLIMA and REGIO) and representatives from permanent representations of regions in Brussels, joined the event, for a total of about 50 participants. Mattia de’ Grassi (Member of VP Šuica’s Cabinet) delivered the introductory remarks and Patrick Child (DDG DG ENV and Manager of Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities) closed the morning of work. The recording of the session is available here.
