The final policy event of BiodiverCities is approaching!

Since 2020, ten cities across Europe have been engaging citizens in support of urban biodiversity. Within the BiodiverCities project, local inhabitants have co-created, among others, urban gardens and insect hotels, jointly re-imagined empty green lawns and unused spaces, co-designed strategic plans and new visions for their cities and neighbourhoods.

Overall, more than 500 citizens have been engaged. Local institutions have also been involved, leading to institutional innovation and greater policy impact.

Now, with the project approaching its end, it is time to take stock, collect the lessons learnt and address the challenges of co-creation as a way of working with citizens and within public institutions.

Join us on September 8, 2022 (from 9 am to 1.15 pm), for the final Policy Event. It will be a snapshot of results and debate about policy and other enabling conditions to ensure that citizens are engaged in the co-creation of urban green infrastructure.

The event is hosted by the European Committee of the Regions (Batiment Jacques Delors, Rue Belliard 99/101, 1040 Brussels). The programme will include a number of conversations and storytelling from representatives and practitioners of the ten cities involved, as well as interventions by EU and local policymakers.

See the AGENDA and REGISTER HERE. Please note that registration closes on September 5, at noon.

Please note that the policy event will also be WEBSTREAMED.

Visit the BiodiverCities page for more information on the project.

Funded by the EU at the request of the European Parliament, BiodiverCities is run by the JRC in collaboration with Directorate-General for Environment, European Commission. *Please note that if maximum capacity is reached, we will follow the principle of "First come, first served".
