Find out from the JRC’s Ângela Guimarães Pereira and Tessa Dunlop about the European Commission’s new Competence Centre on Participatory and Deliberative Democracy. The Competence Centre aims to strengthen citizen engagement across the Commission to ensure more fit-for-purpose and democratic policy. It works on initiatives including the European Democracy Action Plan, the Conference on the Future of Europe and EU Missions. This talk focuses on the trends of participatory and deliberative democracy in the EU in 2021 and the outlook for 2022, and how the Competence Centre is contributing to these initiatives and what impact this work is expected to have.
