After more than one year of borrowing on capital markets under the NextGenerationEU, we take stock of how this has impacted the Commission’s funding strategy in practice, how the Commission's has been delivering on its mandate and the wider impact of this borrowing on the European capital markets.

To that end, the European Commission’s borrowing and lending team is organising an online event The EU as an issuer : the NextGenerationEU transformation" on 5 October from 12:00 to 13:30.

The discussion will be centered around the recently published EU budget policy brief "The EU as an issuer : the NextGenerationEU transformation".

The paper will be introduced by Christian Engelen, Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Budget of the European Commission.
For the interactive panel discussion the following panelists will join:

  • Victoria Webster Director, Fixed Income, AFME
  • Christian Kopf Head of Fixed Income and FX, Union Investment
  • Anthony Linehan Chair of the Council of the EU’s Sub-Committee on EU Sovereign Debt Markets (ESDM).

The conversation will be moderated by Rebecca Christie, Non-resident Fellow at Bruegel.
