To allow the local energy transition, the village’s energy community committed to only use green energy, to save on energy costs, to prevent blackouts, and to use energy tokens to organise the community in a smart way. The active citizen participation along the planning process created a sense of pride of being part of the local community.

To go one step further, the Smart village is now studying the feasibility of linking the energy token with a local digital currency. Stay tuned!
