Short-term outlook for EU agricultural markets – summer 2021

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

The latest short-term outlook report from the Department for Agriculture and Rural Development has been published. It presents a detailed overview of the latest trends and further prospects for key agri-food sectors.

Highlights

Progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign allows the reopening of foodservice and easing travel restrictions in the EU. This should have a positive impact on the tourism summer season and on EU food consumption overall. This confirms the positive prospects anticipated in the Spring 2021 short-term Outlook.

Uncertainties remain however, regarding the capacity to control the spread of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus, and the possible impact of this variant for vaccinated people. You might find more details in the report.
