Within this package we recommend the Regions in Europe - 2022 interactive edition that offers a wide variety of dynamic visualisations with short, objective texts. This allows you to get a deeper understanding of the social, economic and environmental situation across the EU regions.

This edition presents data for 242 EU regions, as well as 16 regions of the EFTA countries and is primarily based on NUTS level 2. Although it is not possible to distinguish rural areas at that level, information on the broader context of your region may prove interesting.

Interested in examining the total population and its change in your region? Check out this interactive map, where you can get data even at NUTS 3 level! You can also look at the population density map which shows data by 25 km2 grid cells.

Or look at this map and see whether your region has a higher than average share of its economic activity in agriculture, industry or services, or this one on number of nights in tourist accommodation.

In this publication you can find data at regional level on 13 domains, just to name a few: education, labour market, economy, transport, tourism and environment.

If you wish to know more, you can search for data in our Eurostat regional yearbook 2022 (available in print, pdf and Statistics Explained articles) and Statistical Atlas visualisation tool 2022.
