It sets out EU-level initiatives and calls for joint action by EU governments and relevant organisations.

The document establishes a clear link to the Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas, and highlights the Commission’s commitment to undertake a series of actions, enabling among others small businesses to move to rural areas. A specific focus will be placed on short supply chains of agri-food products, directly linking producers to consumers and complemented by actions developing employment and learning opportunities for young people and the sustainable development of the bioeconomy.
