NetworX inspired Rural Europe

date:  24/04/2019

Over 400 rural development stakeholders gathered in Brussels to join ‘networX – Inspiring Rural Europe’, a unique event recognising the value of rural networking, demonstrating its results and proactively looking at its future. The event hosted also the Rural Inspiration Awards Ceremony, where six EAFRD-funded projects were awarded for their contribution to making European rural areas more inclusive, competitive and sustainable.

Launched by Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, and Chief Spokesperson for the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, 'networX' hosted more than 20 interactive working sessions, a marketplace and programme of performances, showing how rural development policy enhances vibrant communities and nourishes local cultures. The event provided ample time and space for informal networking, inspiring conversations and sharing of experiences.

Overall, the event identified the most successful aspects of rural development networking which should be strengthened in the future and inspired participants from all over Europe to build on their achievements and engage even more in networking! Key moments of the event are available in this short videoclip.

A collection of highlights on rural networking illustrates how rural networks support entrepreneurship, heritage, environment and vibrant communities in rural areas. The book is available in English, French and German.
