SCENIHR, SCHER un SCCS atzinumi par sintētisko bioloģiju

Sintētiskā bioloģija jau ir tirgum devusi tādus svarīgus produktus kā no rauga sintezētu artemizinīnu un no cukura ražotu bioloģiski noārdāmu plastmasu. Šai nozarei piemīt potenciāls, ko varētu izmantot medicīnā, materiālu izstrādē, ķīmijā, pārtikas un uztura jomā, enerģētikā, ilgtspējā, atkritumu pārstrādē un nekaitīguma jomā. Tāpat kā par daudzām citām jaunām un daudzsološām tehnoloģijām, arī par sintētisko bioloģiju pastāv dažādi viedokļi, kas raisa asas diskusijas par tās potenciālu vai apdraudējumu sabiedrībai.
