The Interreg VA Greater Region project "UniGR-Center for Border Studies (UniGR-CBS)" will be for the first time presented to a large public on 24 October 2018 during a kick-off conference "Border Studies - Towards a Research Network of Excellence".

In the course of the event, the researchers of the network will present first results in the fields "research", "teaching", "mobility", "sociéty", and "territory". They wilI also exchange with a panel of invited guests about topics such as borders as challenges for the European regional development, the border as an individual experience, or the added value of border studies for evidence-based politics.

The invited guests are:

  • Karl-Heinz Lambertz (President of the European Committee of the Regions)
  • Olivier Baudelet (European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy)
  • Clio van Aerde (Artist and scenographer, Luxembourg / Vienna)

At the end of the conference, the participants can walk around an exposition "Expo Border Studies", which illustrates the diversity of Border Studies research and presents the research activities of the UniGR-CBS network.

The conference will take place on 24 October from 1 - 5 pm at the University of Luxembourg (Campus Belval).

Registration is possible until 19/10/2018.
