DeepCom,  standing for “deep commenter” was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The bot uses a reading network and a generation network to generate human-like comments from an entire news article.

In my opinion, avoiding publicizing AI threats to try to slow their spread is the wrong approach, the  AI Alliance should stimulate discussions about best practices and controls on these methods for responsible uses of the AI technology.

The code for DeepCom is available on GitHub so, although Microsoft acknowledges it would be unethical to use this to deceive people, currently there is nothing to stop those with the technical know-how from doing so.
