Through social networks, a person relates, mainly, to others with whom he feels a certain affinity. In addition, these platforms tend to show us content of interest based on our list of friendships, browsing history and clicks.

In this context, it may be that much of the content you receive is aligned with your own tastes, opinions and interests. If so, the information you receive can reinforce your own prejudices, and ensure you ignore the existence of different views on the same fact.

INCIBE, through Internet Segura for Kids (IS4K), publishes this didactic activity so that children better understand the functioning of social networks and specifically, of echo chambers, as well as helping to develop critical thinking about the content they see.

To this end, the activity presents 3 ways of looking the same news; students are divided into small groups, reading and commenting on the content and preparing a common position to argue against the rest of their classmates. Subsequently, a final assembly will be held providing solutions that minimise the effect of echo chambers.

A través de las redes sociales, una persona se relaciona, principalmente, con otras con las que siente cierta afinidad. Además, dichas plataformas tienden a mostrarnos contenidos de interés basándose en nuestra lista de amistades, historial de navegación y clics.

En este contexto puede suceder que muchos de los contenidos que reciba estén alineados con sus propios gustos, opiniones e intereses. Si es así, la información que recibe puede reforzar sus propios planteamientos, y hacerle obviar la existencia de puntos de vista diferentes sobre un mismo hecho.

INCIBE, a través de Internet Segura for Kids (IS4K), publica esta actividad didáctica para que los menores comprendan mejor el funcionamiento de las redes sociales y en concreto, de las cámaras de eco, así como ayudar a desarrollar un pensamiento crítico respecto al contenido que visualiza.

Para ello, la actividad presenta 3 enfoques sobre una misma noticia y se trata de que los alumnos se dividan en pequeños grupos, lean y comenten el contenido y preparen una postura común para defender ante el resto de compañeros. Posteriormente, se realizará una asamblea final en la que surjan soluciones que minimicen el efecto de las cámaras de eco.
