This one-day workshop will bring together actors from cooperation projects, the EU Institutions and interested stakeholders to discuss how to foster the development of mountainous areas in the EU.
The event, now at its third edition (previous workshops were held in 2015 and 2017) is organised by DG REGIO, and will take place on 9 November 2018, in Brussels.
Mountain settlements are often isolated because of their distance from urban or sub-urban hubs where services (education, health) and business or cultural opportunities can be widely accessed. Some of these settlements are cross-border in nature and therefore take the form of cross-border cooperation, mountain-range based cooperation or transnational/ interregional cooperation.
Parallel thematic sessions on the role of EU policies, on projects and experiences from mountainous areas and on governance models will provide the participants with an opportunity to learn from each other and consequently identify new approaches which could help improve the situation in the future.
If you wish to register, please do it as soon as possible by sending an email to Regio-mountain-cooperation@ec.europa.eu. Registrations will close by 6 November.
