The event is jointly organised by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, and the Drama Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is the fourth of a series of decentralised events that follow the adoption on 20 September 2017 of the European Commission's Communication "Boosting Growth and Cohesion in European Border Regions".

The workshop has two main goals: first, showcasing existing good practices in the field of Cross-Border Cooperation and, second, stimulating the dialogue among stakeholders in order to enhance Cross-Border Cooperation.
