Every year, after its General Assembly, AEBR organizes an Annual Conference dealing with a hot topic for European border and cross-border regions. In 2017 our host wast Euroregion EuroACE (Alentejo-Centro-Extremadura) in Badajoz and Elvas (ES-PT), and this year we will go north up to Bothnian Arc (FI-SE) in Oulu. 

In 2018 we are going to concentrate on education and capacity building for employment in border regions.

The 2017 Conference was preceeded by several pre-conference events and the Cross-Border School, an initiative to share knowledge between academicians and practitioners promoted by Euregio Rhine-Waal (DE-NL), the University of Nijmegen and AEBR. In 2018 a new edition of the Cross-Border School has been proposed to take place in Oulu on 19 September.
