Following on 21 October 2016 participation of AIOTI WG03 -IoT Standardisation) to DEI Workshop WG2

On the name of AIOTI (www.aioti.org) WG03 (IoT Standardisation) and as agreed by consensus by AIOTI WG03 members (between 31 October and 18 November 2016 in a AIOTI WG03 mailing list made of 270 organisations and 400 subscribers), we propose the following declaration:

AIOTI perspective on IoT Platforms in DEI workshop
- AIOTI will exploit the return on experience of the 50 Mi euros funded IoT Platforms  (H2020 IoT-EPI 2016-2017 )
- AIOTI will ensure 2016-2017 AIOTI recommendations awareness/adoption/dialogue with 2017-2019 H2020 IoT LSP aiming at enabling cross-cutting IoT LSP interoperability and convergence to a common reference architecture. This is a challenge because funded LSP are relatively autonomous. The role of the EC (project officer) and H2020 IoT LSP CSAs (U4IOT and CREATE-IoT) will be key to enable the good synergy between AIOTI and the H2020 IoT LSPs
- AIOTI will continue to maintain IoT international dialog with IoT Alliances, SDOs, Open Source Software and EC funded IoT initiatives (Projects, PPP) + National Initiatives (to be discussed in DEI workshop).
- AIOTI can very well enable the DEI/IoT dialog between PPPs, LSPs, Standardisations Activities impacting for example ICT MSP.
- AIOTI will facilitate the cooperation with Smart Factory with RAMI, S3P, FITMAN and FoF-PPP…
- AIOTI will Coordinate IoT with Big Data/Cloud, HPC, 5G, CyberSecurity
- AIOTI will continue to participate to EC/DSM/DEI Policy dialog

There is  clearly a good will of convergence that emerged in AIOTI WG03 on IoT Standardisation certainly because AIOTI does not develop IoT Standards but build consensus based on participation, contribution and open way of working (between AIOTI members and with many liaisons)!

Supported by the EC, AIOTI enables a unique IoT dialogue with IoT Alliances, Fora, SDOs, OSS, EU funded Projects/Initiatives.. and, for example, already produced recognized deliverables on IoT Standards Landscape, Common IoT High Level Architecture, IoT Semantic Interoperability principles/recommendations and work now on the key topics of IoT Privacy and Security. These common achievements build by consensus allowed each AIOTI and non-AIOTI stakeholders to leverage on these agreements to hope in a possible IoT convergence. Thanks to AIOTI.

ANNEX:

List of positions recorded:

There are effectively many commercial, de facto standard and Open Source Software IoT Platforms. There are profusion of IoT Standards organisations (with one important international emerging convergence around oneM2M).  Commercial, de facto products and open source software IoT Platforms can really leverage the oneM2M international momentum by just implementing the defined oneM2M interfaces’ standards of the ‘service layer’ of their implementations with IoT/M2M device/gateway/server/applications and join AIOTI efforts on IoT Semantic convergence (with AIOTI, oneM2M, IEEE P2413 and W3C).

In DEI workshop WG2 / IoT subgroup (21 October 2016 DEI workshop) the availability of oneM2M release 2 existing international standardisationwas raised in reaction to the complain of the lack of interoperable IoT standards. AIOTI IoT Semantic Interoperability proposal need more awareness !
