The European Green Deal is a new growth strategy that aims to transform the European Union into a fair and  prosperous society, with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy where there are no net emissions of greenhouse gases in 2050 and where economic growth is decoupled from resource use. This very ambitious strategy cannot be fully efficient without involving Europe's regions and cities.

Having in mind that around 40% of EU citizens live in border regions, the CoR believes that it is imperative to involve these regions from the very start. This event will look into already existing related good practices that European border regions, Euroregions and EGTCs are implementing on their territories, and showcase to the European institutions, Member States and other actors, that the border regions are not peripheries, but laboratories of Europe where new and innovative actions are tested for the benefit of the Union and its citizens.
