MPASS.id - education sector authentication solution from Finland

Webinar in English about MPASS for service providers. MPASS offers ready-made and growing markets for education sector services and online products.

The MPASS authentication solution implements the ECA Auth authentication interface, which is a part solution enabling the wider use of digital learning environments. It has been developed according to the open-source principle under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) and with funding from the Ministry of Finance. The primary body responsible for the implementation is CSC – IT Center for Science. The MPASS authentication solution’s source code can be found in the project’s GitHub repository.

Reliable data about users

MPASS is based on what is known as weak identification and so social media identifiers can be used with it. One could ask what is the difference between open code software libraries on the market which can be used for agile implementation of social media identifiers. MPASS uses social media identifiers only for identification.

MPASS does not use social media user attributes as part of identification; they are taken from the student management systems.

That means that we can be sure that Ville is Ville and he is a student in class 5 at the Kaakkuri school in Oulu.More detailed introduction can be found from http://www.mpass.fi/en/mpass-nopeuttaa-uusien-palveluiden-kayttoonottoa/
