Good news! Cross-border healthcare in EU will be on the spotlights in the months to come and this will offer opportunities for debates and further developments.

The European Court of Auditors decided to carry on a performance audit on current cross-border healthcare arrangements in the EU.  The audit will examine European Commission’s monitoring and support for implementing the relevant EU legislation, the results achieved so far for different aspects of Dir. 2011/24/EU and the effectiveness of the EU funding framework to facilitate patients access to  cross-border healthcare.  The audit will also cover the eHealth sector, where information technology is used to improve healthcare delivery and the health of citizens.

The final report is expected first half of 2019. The Background paper has just been published here: https://www.eca.europa.eu/en/Pages/DocItem.aspx?did=46018
