The European Get Online Week campaign is organized by Telecentre Europe to engage and empower people to use technology and the Internet.

The European Get Online Week was inspired by the campaign with the same name ran for the first time by UK Online Centres in the UK.

Since 2010, over 700,000 people have been involved in campaign activities (trainings, workshops, staff exchanges, certifications, job opportunities, study visits)

In 2015, Get Online Week is part of eSkills for Jobs organized by the European Commission and supported by major ICT industry players like Liberty Global and Microsoft

The campaign aligns 26 national partners that work with telecentres in thousands of European communities to reach at least 50,000 Europeans.

This year, Get Online Week has two main themes:

  • Digital Empowerment - addressing mainly youth and unemployed - to raise awareness and build people’s set of skills required by the available digital jobs
  • Digital Inclusion – to make sure no one is left behind, by initiating first time computer users and a number of underprivileged groups in the online world

In 2015, Get Online Week will also include new types of activities around coding for inclusion, connecting telecentres with coding clubs, or encourage e-participation, or empowering SMEs to get online.
