Non-accessible content

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Statistics Explained website, we are aware of some remaining limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for the Statistics Explained website:

  • Interactive maps: Interactive maps are not always accessible to blind users and users who rely on keyboard navigation. They are integrated in the site from another source that is not accessible itself.
  • Infographics / images: Some of the infographics or images on our website may still have no or insufficient text alternatives for people with a vision impairment. This is especially the case for articles before 2023. For newer content as of 2023, alternative texts have been added.
  • Interactive tools / visualisations: The interactive tools and visualisations on this site do not always have text alternatives. We are aware that this is inaccessible for people using the screen reader or keyboard. However, all visualisations provide a direct link to the source dataset to display the data in table format. The majority of issues for our interactive tools were fixed in 2024.
  • Many documents in Excel format are not accessible. Work is still ongoing.
  • Videos: Some videos on this website do not have audio description when needed, or captions.
