Glossary:Tree line
A tree line is a continuous linear array of woody vegetation, usually forming a field boundary within agricultural land or alongside roads or water courses.
A tree line is made up of individual trees (usually more than 2 m high) with gaps between them that are normally less than around 20 m (depending on the local customs and species). Vegetation which can be considered as part of the utilised agricultural area (e.g. vineyards, fruit tree plantations, etc.) is excluded.
