This is the stable Version.
An estimate is a particular value yielded by an estimator in a given set of circumstances. The term is also widely used to denote the rule by which such particular values are calculated. Nevertheless, it seems preferable to reserve the word estimator for this rule of procedure, and to use estimate only for the particular values generated.
