Open Days 2012: DG AGRI Workshops on Community-Led Local Development
Brussels, Belgium: 10-11 October 2012

Community-Led Local Development at OPEN DAYS 2012

Brief Summary

In the context of the ‘10th European Week of Regions and Cities - OPEN DAYS’, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) aimed at bringing together projects and experts from all over Europe to discuss Community-Led Local Development (CLLD). Twenty CLLD workshops were held between 8-11 October. Project representatives, experts, associations and EU, national, regional and local level officials participated in the workshops to exchange and network on issues surrounding the proposals made by the European Commission in October 2011 on funding of Community-Led Local Development in urban, rural and fisheries areas post-2013.

Four CLLD workshops out of the 20 were organised by DG AGRI in partnership with the ENRD Contact Point. The aim was to generate discussions on the preparation, design, implementation and management of Local Development Strategies (LDS), to create an understanding of how networking can be used as a tool to mobilise actors, and to publicise widely the added value of transnational cooperation between local territories.

Each workshop was followed by a networking session where workshop organisers and participants could continue the discussions in a more informal context.
