A young Hungarian farmer used Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) support to help achieve her business dream of producing specialised artisan dairy products. Her success has provided a new source of employment opportunities for her hometown’s rural economy.
2022 is European Year of Youth and CAP support for young farmers echoes the intentions driving this celebration of youth’s potential for building a better, greener, more inclusive and digital future. Hungary’s Nóra Székely is a good example of CAP’s scope for helping young rural entrepreneurs. Her Pipitér Cheese Workshop was established with a combination of investment and start-up co-finance from the national Rural Development Programme. You can read about her success story on the ENRD website, which highlight’s Nóra’s cost savings from using renewable energy and points to the benefits of farm advisory services for facilitating generational renewal.
