Latest EU data shows that EU agri-food trade continues to show notable growth compared to 2020. Exports increased by 8% to €145.2 billion and the overall agri-food trade surplus was €51 billion which is an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2020.
Wine, confectionary, pig meat and cereals experienced some of the highest growth in exports to agri-food markets in countries such as China, South Korea and Switzerland. Sizeable decreases in imports from several countries occurred, with the European Commission highlighting the most notable of which was a €2.9 billion or 27% fall in the value of those from the United Kingdom.
