Context: 

A social role for farm(er)s is desirable: apart from compensation on an economic level, it could add to social contact and wellbeing for farmers and increase the image of agriculture. On the other hand it meets the needs of rural population:
Due to regional demographic and social evolutions (population ageing, the growth of two income or single households, systematic shortened stays in hospital …), rural population does not always find the fit care they need after surgery or a severe disease.
The world famous experience in care for the mentally ill by foster care families from Geel (town in Leader region) will inspire and guide the project.

Project idea summary:

Looking for a means to help farmers with financial and social poverty, Improving the image of agriculture locally, agricultural and medical cross sectoral cooperation we want to create a setting in farms for (ex-)patients to recover, cure, heal during the day or a long term stay.

Starting from the point of view that a green environment, the presence/interaction with animals, a structured day program and social contact have positive effects on one’s health, we want to create green, quiet environment in farms to heal.
