DG AGRI and the ENRD Contact Point jointly organised a workshop titled 'Selection criteria: towards a more performant Rural Development policy' on 15 March 2016 in Brussels.
The workshop focused on the definition, use, and communication of selection criteria which is crucial for a result-oriented and effective implementation of Rural Development Programmes (RDPs). Selection criteria should ensure equal treatment of applicants, better use of financial resources, and targeting of the Measure in accordance with EU’s Rural Development priorities, while avoiding unnecessary administrative burden.
The workshop was targeted at national and regional Managing Authorities and Paying Agencies. It provided an opportunity for a structured exchange of experiences among relevant authorities and with auditors in defining and applying selection criteria, consulting Monitoring Committees, and communicating to potential beneficiaries.
