How to evaluate innovation?

Evaluation and self-assessment can help to get the greatest possible benefit from innovative projects. They can provide information on whether objectives are being achieved, determine how effectively the project is run and help to learn lessons for the future.

This list of resources is meant to inspire advisers, farmers, researchers and other professionals involved in innovative projects. Rural Development Programme managing authorities or Rural Networks can also find useful tools to help Operational Groups reach their goals.

Getting started…

Guidelines: Evaluation of Innovation in Rural Development Programmes 2014-2020

The ENRD Evaluation Helpdesk published an assessment tool for different groups of rural development stakeholders: managing authorities, evaluation experts and evaluators. It can act as a reference document for Operational Groups, Local Action Groups, and for national rural networks  supporting LAGs and EIP Operational Groups.

Guidelines and checklist for self-assessment of Operational Groups (in German)

This self-assessment tool supports Operational Groups during their lifespan to check whether objectives are being reached or adjustments are needed. The self-assessment check-list will also help Operational Groups to fulfil their reporting requirements.
