PhD candidate in Economics, London Business School
Winner of the 2021 ECB Young economists’ competition
Diego Känzig

Diego is a PhD candidate in Economics at London Business School working on topics at the intersection between climate change, inequality and macroeconomics. His research highlights that climate change and inequality also have important implications for the business cycle, above and beyond the significant long-run effects.

In current work, Diego studies the economic effects of carbon pricing and the role of climate policy uncertainty – projects for which he recently received a research grant from the Wheeler Institute for Business and Development. His paper “The unequal economic consequences of carbon pricing” was awarded the ECB Young Economist Prize, the Wheeler Institute PhD Award and the AQR Fellowship Award. Some of his work has already appeared in peer-reviewed journals including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Monetary Economics and the European Economic Review.
