Professor Viveka Palm is the Director for the Department of Sectoral and Regional Statistics at Eurostat.
Prior to joining Eurostat in 2021, she was Deputy Head of Department for Regions and Environment at Statistics Sweden (2013-2021). At the same time, she was an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Professor Palm received her PhD in Water Resources Engineering and her Master of Science in Engineering Physics from KTH and worked for eight years at IVL, a Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
Palm was the co-chair of the UN Inter-Agency and Expert Group for the Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDG) between the years 2019 and 2021. She was also chair of the OECD working party on Environmental Information and part of its bureau between 2012 and 2021. She has been a member of the London group on environmental accounts since 2013 and served as an interim chair during 2020.
