Antonio Muñoz Martínez

Antonio Muñoz Martínez has been part of the Seville municipal council since 2011 and, before being appointed mayor, managed the areas of tourism, culture and town planning for six years as deputy mayor of the city’s government.

He holds a degree in economics and business from the University of Malaga, and MBA from the San Telmo International Institute (Seville). Expert in Local Development, International Labour Organisation and the United Nations.

His career has been linked to the management of public resources, the promotion of tourism and the revitalisation of economic activity. Thus, he was the Director of Finance of the Provincial Council (1993-1999); Director of the Economics and Tourism Department of the City Council (1999-2002); Director of Tourism of the Province of Seville (2002-2004); and Director General of Tourism Planning and Planning of the Regional Government of Andalusia (2004-2011). Between 2011 and 2015 he was a municipal councillor and spokesperson for the Socialist Group, and between 2015 and 2021 he was a delegate of the Seville City Council’s Urban Habitat, Tourism and Culture, as well as being spokesperson of the city’s government.

During the municipal management in these areas, he gave priority to the international promotion and projection of Seville, cultural programming, the development of large public and private investor projects, the restoration of heritage, the complete redesign of administrative operations in order to encourage the facilitation, simplification and modernisation of the processing of licences and the acquisition of investments.
