Dear eDelivery Team, We are currently using Wildfly and would like to provide feedback regarding its phase-out. Our concerns are as follows: Since we have to replace this product, we kindly ask you to suggest the most chosen alternative by the other EU’s Member States in order to be part of a coherent scenario. Thank you very much in advance. Feedback on WildFly support in Domibus As announced, you can plan your transition away from WildFly in the next 2 years, the phaseout of support is not imminent. Domibus 5.2 will still support WildFly for two years after its release, so until circa Q2 2027. As of the version after 5.2, the only other two application servers that Domibus will support are Apache Tomcat and WebLogic. We do not have an overview of EU Member States operational choices, but the following table provides some elements of comparison, especially highlighting those that are more relevant for a Domibus installation: WebLogic Tomcat Requires a license for use in production Free Commercial support available from vendor Commercial support only available from third parties Provides more advanced features (e.g., assisted cluster-wide deployment & configuration, ) More limited set of features Administration & configuration is more complex (usually requires specific expertise) Administration & configuration is simpler Domibus can use WebLogic’s embedded JMS broker Domibus requires an external JMS broker (Active MQ) May support new frameworks with significant delay (e.g., support for Jakarta EE 10 – already available in Tomcat – will only be available in late 2025 at the earliest) Faster adoption of new frameworks Has better monitoring Lacks some of the advanced management and monitoring tools available in WebLogic
We advise you to select your preferred option depending on your circumstances and requirements.
