The EU Digital Identity Wallets will build on existing national systems. Today, not every person living in the EU has access to a means of digital identification. EU Digital Identity Wallets will not replace but complement existing national solutions; allowing for seamless identification and authentication in the public and private sector all over the EU and for sharing personal electronic attributes and credentials.
