The Path to Growth: Achieving Excellence in Business Friendly Public Administration

In the context of Europe 2020, the European Union’s growth strategy for the period 2010-2020, modernising public administration is seen as a key element of restoring competitiveness in a number of Member States.  

A high-level event organised by the Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission, the conference “The Path to Growth” is intended to encourage fresh and innovative thinking on reforming public administrations by discussing: 

  •  key difficulties experienced by businesses in dealing with public administrations;
  • ideas and experiences of how such difficulties can be overcome;
  • concrete achievements and best practice in public administrations amongst Member States. 

Top European and international policy-makers, including European Commission President Barroso and Vice-President Tajani, ministers from various Member States, industry leaders and stakeholders as well as renowned academics and policy advisers will debate on the challenges and opportunities facing European public administrations and the necessary policy responses at EU and national level. The main conclusions of the conference will feed the further development of policy guidance for modernising public administrations in the framework of the European Semester
