The public consultation that was launched by the Commission in the framework of the EU Budget reform, closed in June 2008, was a great success. Read the contributions submitted by participants of various backgrounds.

Watch the conference "Reforming the budget, changing Europe"

On November 12th, the Commission organised a conference on the future of the European budget. The speeches of president Barroso and the Commissioner responsible for Financial Programming and the Budget, Dalia Grybauskaitė, as well those of all other speakers, have been recorded and can be watched online.

Notre Europe launches an on-line debate on the EU budget reform

As we approach the end of the EU budgetary review, Notre Europe invites various prominent scholars and EU observers to discuss the EU budget reform proposal put forward by Alfonso Iozzo, Stefano Micossi and Maria Teresa Salvemini in a policy paper published by CEPS some time ago (“A New budget for the European Union?” CEPS policy brief n. 159, May 2008).

Eurobarometer survey results : Europeans favour an EU budget that focuses on economic growth

The latest Eurobarometer survey asked EU citizens what they thought the EU budget should focus on. "Economic growth" was the theme most often quoted by respondents. Read the full results.
