The New European Bauhaus 2021: Prize Ceremony & Winners’ Exhibition

The European Commission awarded the first NEB prizes on 16 September in Brussels. Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms and Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth handed the awards to the 20 laureates. The New European Bauhaus 2021:  Prize Ceremony & Winners’ Exhibition

In April 2021, Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms and Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, launched the first NEB competition. The 2021 contest is the culmination of the design phase, with the prizes rewarding excellent examples and new ideas to further inspire the project and shape the NEB concept.  

 

During 23 April to 1 June, more than 2 000 applications were received for the New European Bauhaus Prizes 2021 from across the EU Member States. Then, from 11 to 18 June, over 20 000 NEB newsletter subscribers were invited to vote for their favourite projects and ideas.  

 

… and the winners are 

 

The European Commission has now finalised the evaluation process and the winners will be announced tomorrow 16th September at 5PM. President Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission will address the participants in a video message, while Commissioners Ferreira and Gabriel will hand in the awards to the winners. 

 

The prizes will recognise and celebrate existing achievements and will support the younger generation in further developing emerging concepts and ideas. They will give visibility to examples and concepts that illustrate how the triangle of sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion has already been translated into our EU projects.
