Cohesion policy: Inauguration of social housing in Vidin

improve the quality of life and standard of living for disadvantaged, vulnerable, and socially disadvantaged people by providing accommodation and improving the housing environment in the municipality.

The social housing facilities, which has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund Plus with almost €2 million, have been completed within the 34-month. 37 social housing units have been built, each fully furnished and equipped with modern amenities. The property has been upgraded with self-standing approaches and entrances, leisure and sports grounds, and an accessible built environment for users of the service, including persons with disabilities.

The implementation of this project has achieved several results, including the creation of a supportive environment for positive social change and improved quality and living standards for representatives of selected target groups. The project has also created preconditions for spatial integration for people from vulnerable groups by ensuring access to community-based structures such as educational, health, social, and cultural institutions.

The EU is committed to advancing its targeted policy in the field of social inclusion for disadvantaged and vulnerable people and harmonizing with modern standards for sustainable and balanced social development.

In the 2014-2020 period Bulgaria was allocated a Cohesion Policy budget of nearly €8 billion. In the current 2021-2027 programming period Bulgaria benefits from €9.5 billion in Cohesion Policy funding, one of the few countries receiving an increased allocation in comparison with the previous period.
