#BidasoaForum

How to increase awareness of the benefits of cohesion policy across the French-Spanish border region, reaching a maximum number of people through various media? This was the challenge met by the “#BidasoaForum”, managed by SA DE PRESSE ET D’EDITION DU SUD OUEST (SAPESO) and EL DIARIO VASCO.

From March 2019 to January 2020, these two newspapers coordinated a campaign across the French-Spanish border, in order to increase awareness of cross-border exchanges and activity in the Basque region. Surveys printed in the respective newspapers and published on their websites were followed by four conferences dealing with themes ranging from health to tourism, education (university), agrotourism, employment and cross-border mobility.

The conferences were also the subject of televised reports broadcast in French, Spanish and Basque.

The communication actions implemented as part of the “#BidasoaForum” project were very popular. The figures speak for themselves:

  • 21 articles published between March 2019 and February 2020
  • 53 3000 readers reached (equates to 60% of the area’s population
  • El Diario Vacso published 11 articles for a total of 324 000 readers.
  • TV reports and special broadcasts watched by close to 190 000 people in SW of France, and 90 000 in Northern Spain
  • Over 1 000 participants at the conferences. All events were also filmed and published online via Facebook.
