Rural Pact Conference 2025 to shape the future of EU rural policy

On 16-17 September, the European Commission and the Rural Pact Support Office are organising the Rural Pact Conference ‘From vision to action: Empowering rural areas for the future' in Pecq, near Kortrijk (Belgium).

At 15:00 today, Executive Vice-President Fitto and Commissioner Hansen will open the conference, which will also feature key contributions from high-profile stakeholders from EU institutions and international organisations. This event will bring together the Rural Pact community to gather their ideas for advancing the rural vision 2040, update the Rural Action Plan, and guide the Rural Pact actions and future policies.

Over 250 participants are invited to network and co-create ideas for more connected, resilient and prosperous rural areas through an updated Rural Action Plan expected in early 2026, as announced in the Vision for Agriculture and Food.

The Rural Pact Conference promises to be pivotal in the political dialogue shaping future rural policies, including through eight interactive thematic sessions addressing among others sustainability, digital connectivity, competitiveness, resilience and the right to stay. This provides the perfect platform to share best practices and strengthen rural networks.
